Computex 2015 - Team Group

We quickly stopped by the booth of Team Group, who are celebrating their 18th anniversary at this years Computex. It operates in three main areas: DRAM, flash and mobile; we focussed on the first two.

Since the launch of X99, memory manufacturers have been focussed on DDR4, Team Group included. It showed us a few upcoming kits, including a limited edition DDR4 3,400MHz kit due in Q3 that uses a new heatsink with horizontal fins in the style of a CPU cooler – presumably to benefit from the airflow of a CPU cooler. There was also a massive 128GB kit (8 x 16GB) that runs at 2,666MHz and a OC LED DRAM kit where the onboard LEDs turn on when XMP is activated and flash if the modules get too hot (over 60°C, we believe).

The most interesting flash product was an upcoming (late June) 2280 M.2 drive , the TM8FP7, with PCI-E 3.0 x4 support. It's capable of read speeds up to 2.5GB/sec, but writes are limited to a maximum of 720MB/sec. There was also the M152, a USB drive (up to 32GB) with a wireless transmitter built in that, with software installed on both, allows you to control your Android phone's screen with your PC or vice versa when on the same network, and easily transfer files between the two.
